Serve on a Friends Committee
The Friends is looking for volunteers who are willing to work with the board and Austin SSLC staff on the following committees: Fundraising, Publicity/Marketing, Events & Special Projects, and Finance. If you have experience in and/or a passion for any of these areas, please call 512-374-6070 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Campus buddies are partnered one-on-one with a specific individual. Our residents really benefit from and enjoy spending time with people from the community. Spend time on campus walking, playing games, bike riding, attending activities together or just enjoying each other’s company.
Human Rights Committee
The Human Rights Committee ensures that our individuals' rights are protected through impartial review of documentation, as well as local policies and practices related to protecting rights. Volunteers are needed to fill the role of Community Representative on the committee. Training is provided. This is a great opportunity to make a difference on the 'background' side of things.
Residents enjoy music, dancing, movies, socialization, and refreshments at NEOS, our multipurpose recreation center. Activities include: game night, karaoke, art studio, movie night, dances and more. Volunteers can participate in the activity, help with decorating, serve refreshments, or help clean up. Mingle, meet our residents and just have fun! Activities generally take place in the evenings and on weekends.
This is an excellent opportunity for schools, churches, companies, or families to work together to brighten someone's life! Groups can adopt a home to host a special activity or complete a campus improvement/ beautification project.
Clothing Room Volunteer
At the clothing room, residents can shop for and select new shirts, pants, suits, dresses, shoes, accessories, and more to take home and wear. We are in need of volunteers who enjoy sewing to help make alterations to the residents’ clothes.
